Thanks Bill. I really enjoyed the press conference and liked what AV had to say. Less than 6 months away from seeing it in action. |

If anyone did a lick of research into the song. They’ll realize it was a satirical work for views on racism at the time. But that can not be proven. Tear it down.

Just5 just googled looking for evidence supporting his theory, aka confirmation bias.
EDIT: this means you limit evidence only to that which supports your theory. |

So let’s brand her as a racist. Let’s not look into then. The video is enough |

Why are we holding people that are dead to standards that didn't exist back then. When is it going to be too much? Are we going to tear down the Ed Snider statue because he was friends with Ayn Rand?
It would be different if she was alive and still singing the song. My grandfather was racist. He now has a biracial granddaughter and loves her to death. People change as society changes.
It was the 1930s FFS.
If the Flyers do one more stupid decision like Firing Shawney or apologizing because Ed Snider was friends with Ayn Rand I'm done. I will not be a willing participant of an organization that reacts and apologies every time someone overreacts.
I almost want to protest this by standing by the statue and not letting them tear it down. |

If you read the article that Bill linked to, it describes Vigneualt's basic philosophy of play, very well. What it also points out to me is why Corsi and any of it's related stats are over valued. In this instance with the way Vigneult's teams play, the actual system of play affects the numbers. Both for the team and the individuals. It's just more evidence of why some analytics are really mediocre stats. |

It's a shame she didn't have 40 years to come to her senses...or live in a country that went through the 60's...oh, wait.

And people act like the language was 'so common, it was the 30's, black people liked it and she had black friends! People are too sensitive...'
Not everyone did or does think like that.
I am finished with this now.
Thanks. |

I'm fine with replacing her as long as they pick someone good to replace her.
May I suggest R.Kelly? He can record a new version of his hit song and change the lyrics to "I believe I Can Flyers" |

Hopefully the new coach will create and demand accountability. Saying the right things is nice; need to see it implemented.
Still hope the GM makes some massive changes. |

And you are the bastion of down the middle thinking. Take a look in the mirror.
He is indeed right. It was also recorded by Paul Robeson. And appeared in the movie Duck Soup with just that message.
Bottom line is that the Flyers organization is a bunch of cowards and they bowed to a bunch of virtue signalling aholes in a knee jerk reaction.

Please stop with the saying the right thing is one thing but actually doing it is another. Such a cliche lazy statement. This guy has a proven track record and is going to implement his system which has had success in the past. Leave your nonsense comments to yourself. |

I’m not all for massive changes but I do want a vet D and a second line Center. I know Talbot will probably be the backup but I don’t know why (he has sucked for at least a year) so I hope they at least see what else is available. |

How can you tell someone 'you shouldn't be offended' that the woman was CELEBRATED by our team?
Who are you to do that? Will you cut a check to the team if they suffer financially? Or if that stupid statue was repeatedly defaced? |

That's a point.
If she did, I have not heard it yet, and if it didn't happen, whether she was: joking, it was satire, she DID show regret for DARKIES, or whatever.....
Fine. I get it. But telling the ORG that they should ignore modern re-evaluation of things that happened in a different time when they were alive is wrong.
Put a statue of her in your yard if you like her so much. |

i truthfully have no opinion because i have very few facts and i don't like to rush to judgement. we as a society do too much of that in general esp with social media. i also understand times were different (things are better but still have WAY more to go) so its hard for me to really judge if that makes sense. for what its worth i am against racism, homophobia, anti-whatever races, religion, etc as long as people are good people |

If I didn’t say it before, I’m gonna say it now. I like, not love the Alain Vigneault hire. You need time to fall in love. We needed a big fish, we got a big fish.
Now, here’s the thing. We’re still gonna need everyone to do their job from top to bottom. This is a crucial offseason. Fletcher is going to need to fill in hole. In my mind depth and bottom six is the biggest holes. After that, size and physicality. We have the skill but we also need a team that can stand up when the time comes. To sum this up, this will take GM, Coaching staff and players alike to work/play to the best of their capabilities. |

Didn't mean to be pissy/disrespectful.
I apologize, but have a big problem when people 'punch down' so to speak.
The fact that people get offended at the scrutiny of offensive things towards groups unlike themselves is bizarre and dumb.
Let's all move on! Minus that stupid statue. |

Hopefully AV figures a way to get the Flyers to have better starts to their games, instead of sleepwalking through the 1st period? On ice accountability would help, too. I sure hope he brings in new bench coaches. After last season, the Flyers needed a fresh start and bringing in AV, instead of keeping Gordon is a start. Keeping the same or some of the present bench coaches would be a step backwards before the 2019-2020 season starts. |
